Things you should consider when having a project completed on your property
Get three references from each provider involved in the bid process
Get at least three bids for your project, include plans or drawings to assist the contractor scope and cost
Have a contract written up and the terms disclosed. Prior to signing the contract, confirm all the terms are laid out and understood
Only pay 10% or $1,000 down, whichever is less when starting your project
Keep records of all your payments and never let the payments get ahead of the work being completed
Retain the final payment until you are satisfied with the completion of the job
DO NOT PAY WITH CASH
Keep a file of the papers related to the job
